San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush was carted off the field Monday night after suffering a calf injury and is unlikely to play next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com.

Head coach Jim Tomsula said Bush suffered a calf strain, just another injury in a long list of injuries for Bush. This is Bush's 10th season in the league, but he has only played a full 16 games twice in his career.

The 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings 20-3 last night, but Bush was carted off early in the first quarter. Bush only managed two carries for eight yards before the injury, but running back Carlos Hyde had a strong performance as the number one back. Hyde rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Hyde's touchdowns were the only scores of the night outside of field goals.

Tomsula said after the game that he didn't believe Bush's injury was serious, according to Maiocco. Bush signed a one-year contract for $2.5 million this offseason, and part of that contract was based on games played. The 49ers likely knew of Bush's injury history and decided to work that into the contract.

Bush's last good season was in 2013 for the Detroit Lions. That season he rushed for 1,006 yards, while also catching 54 passes for 506 yards. Bush seems like a risk for any backfield, but when he is healthy he can be explosive. The only problem is he is rarely healthy, but luckily for the 49ers they have Hyde who looks to be a dominant back in the league this year.
