Jeff Sneider of The Wrap reports via Twitter that Rachel McAdams has confirmed her starring role in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.

Disney and Marvel have yet to comment on the report, but this rumor has been swirling around since earlier this summer. McAdams has long been thought of by the studio to be the frontrunner for the female lead. At the time, though, she said that talks were "still in the super-early days" and that she was unsure "where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all." However, now it seems as if those talks have led to a done deal in one of Marvel's most important Phase 3 films.

McAdams' specific role is still unknown at this point, but it's possible that she could play some version of Night Nurse, Stephen Strange's love interest from the 2006 limited series "The Oath."

The duo will be joined by Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. "Doctor Strange" promises to be a different type of Marvel movie unlike anything that has come in the MCU before it.

"Doctor Strange" will open on Nov. 4, 2016.
