Butlin's, a chain of Holiday camps based out of the United Kingdom, is trying to make a difference in the way that children and their parents learn about the ever-changing technology and science industries. The company did a research study proving that 20 percent of parents, before going online and doing research, are actually pretending to know the answer to their child's homework, according to Dailymail.

In digging past the surface, the study has also found that at least 36 percent of parents feel like they aren't smart enough or lack the knowledge to help their children, which then makes the parents feel not up to par for their children's sake, Pressreader reported.

The transition schools are taking from traditional subjects to newer subjects are daunting to parents. Their unfamiliarity with the new material makes helping their children even more difficult. According to the study, only three percent of parents understood coding and programming. Unfortunately, that scenario is far too common, and now we have to find ways to make changes and ensure that everyone can be on the same page when it comes to gaining knowledge and understanding ever-changing curriculums.

On a positive note, Butlin's is trying to make a difference and change these statistics. It has actually started what's being called "The Astonishing Family Science Weekend." This program will be held at Butlin's Minehead, on Sept. 18-21. Butlin's hopes that it will help bridge the learning gap between parents and children. The event is geared towards the age group of 6 to 14 year olds.

One of the programs at this resort is Bletchley Park Code Breaking, where students learn a form of code breaking that was developed in 1932, and can interact with a working Enigma Machine.

These types of classes and knowledge are becoming more predominate in society, and Butlin's wants to ensure that while we are teaching children new topics, the parents aren't going to be left behind. It wants to make sure parents are able to progress forward in a technologically savvy world. They goal is just ensure the future of children and the ability to keep their parents up to speed as well.
