RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan rapper-turned-director, will continue his career in film. The hip-hop star is set to direct his third film, a prison thriller called "Breakout," Variety reported. The film was shopped to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend.

The rapper, born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, will direct the Richard D'Ovidio-written screenplay based on an original story he created with Nicole D'Ovidio, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film focuses on a photographer who was falsely arrested while in Bangladesh for drug trafficking. The photographer's father, along with two friends, helps him escape from prison and uncover the truth.

"Breakout" is the second Amasia Entertainment project that RZA signed on for, the first is Amasia film "Mr. Right" starring Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell.

"The multi-talented RZA has mastered the art of music, acting and filmmaking," said Amasia principals Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant. "We are ecstatic to have him behind the camera on our next project as he brings a fresh and innovative take to this international action thriller from Rich D'Ovidio."

RZA rose to fame in the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. He made his directorial debut in 2012 with "The Man With The Iron Fists," the kung-fu flick that he co-wrote with Eli Roth, according to IMDB. His second film, "Coco," is in post-production with a March 2016 release date via Lionsgate.
