Dwyane Wade is a legend in Miami and will go down as one of the greatest athletes the city has ever been home to. Wade has spent all 12 of his NBA seasons with the Miami Heat and has had a ton of success there winning three championships, but Pat Riley was unsure if he would be able to keep Wade in Miami this summer, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Wade was a free agent this summer and decided to sign a one-year deal with the Heat worth $20 million. Before that, Wade was on a two-year deal with the Heat, and there had been speculation for a long time that Wade might opt to sign with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent because that is his hometown team, but it has yet to happen. Riley had some doubt in his mind as to whether the Heat would be able to retain Wade this offseason in part because LeBron James left the Heat last summer.

"Yeah, I had some concern because we have lost players before, there was a time I said anything is possible because of what had happened with LeBron. The landscape of the NBA now and player mentalities sometimes get into the way of the priorities that you have to face as a player and as also an organization. It really is more than ever a big, capital letters business now," said Riley.

Wade will play in the 2015-16 season on a one-year deal and will again be a free agent, but Riley doesn't seem too concerned about Wade leaving now though, as he said he thinks Wade will be a "lifer" with the Heat organization. In reality, if Wade was going to leave the Heat, he probably would have already done it, so staying with Miami until he retires seems likely.

Wade will be a big part of a Heat team that hopes to compete for an NBA Championship with a revamped roster and a healthy Chris Bosh. The 33-year-old shooting guard is coming off a year in which he averaged 21.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 62 games while making 47 percent of his field goal attempts.
