"My Yahoo" homepage has got a fresh look and a beautiful design with more customizable options for desktop, smartphone and tablets.

It is the season for upgrades. With Apple changing its user interface with a new design and Google upgrading its search site with a new logo and a tweaked homepage, Yahoo has left no stone unturned to attract more users to its "My Yahoo" homepage. The upgrade to the My Yahoo page comes just in time as Google's iGoogle service is about to retire November.

Now iGoogle users can switch to My Yahoo without losing their customized settings from iGoogle.

Yahoo's latest update to its My Yahoo homepage comes after six long years, but the changes made to the site have been worth the wait. Yahoo has made several major updates this year including a major makeover to its popular photo-sharing site Flickr and most recently the official logo.

The new My Yahoo homepage features a "sleek, tailor-made starting page to access your email accounts, calendars, stock portfolio, sports scoreboard, weather, Flickr, and of course your favorite content - from Yahoo and around the Web," Mike Kerns, SVP My Yahoo Homepage & Vertical Products, wrote in a blog post, announcing the update, Thursday.

In order to customize the My Yahoo homepage, one must have a Yahoo ID, but for those who are new to the site, the  can sign up with a new Yahoo ID or link with their Google or Facebook account. The updated site gives a more streamlined and organized look. Users can customize the homepage based on their priorities. The columns can be dragged across the page and the setting is saved immediately. It is hassle-free, quick, responsive and beautiful.

To push the envelope even further, new and attractive themes from designers such as Rachel Zoe and bands such as "Fun." and "One Direction,"  give your homepage a personal touch.

"Whether you're a foodie, news junkie, fashionista, or a stock trader, you can customize a page that's completely you," Kerns wrote.

The overhauled look of the website can be a new home for iGoogle users following its shut down in November. That been said, My Yahoo allows users to import their settings from iGoogle letting the company build a personalized homepage.

Considering the big change, My Yahoo is bound to get many users who are looking for a rich customized experience.

While the big change is working in Yahoo's favor, CEO Marissa Mayer has also encouraged users who have switched to the My Yahoo homepage. Mayer retweeted several new users who requested for a RT from the Yahoo's boss so they can make the big switch.
