Singer Pink debuted the new theme song for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Today’s the Day,” during Thursday’s episode of the talk show. She recorded the song in August just for program.

Pink performed the song live in New York City’s Rockefeller Center where “Ellen” filmed a couple of special episodes to kick off the show’s new season. Towards the end of the performance, DeGeneres and Pink’s adorable 4-year-old daughter, Willow, joined her onstage.

DeGeneres specifically asked Pink to write a new tune for her television show. The two are both spokesmodels for CoverGirl.

“I can’t thank you enough,” DeGeneres told Pink during an interview segment. “We wanted to do a new theme song, and I adore you, and you know that, and I asked you thinking you’d probably say no, and you said yes.”

“It’s the biggest honor in the world, Ellen calls you and asks you to write a song for her,” responded Pink. “I’m like, ‘Yes! I will write 50 so you like one of them.’”

Turns out, it was the first and only song Pink needed to write for DeGeneres.

“I just wanted it to be happy because you make people happy,” said Pink. “I just pictured Ellen dancing and everyone happy.”

At the end of the interview, DeGeneres surprised Pink with a doughnut cake for her 36th birthday, which was Sept. 8.
