Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm confirmed that he will retire from soccer in 2018, according to Bleacher Report.

Lahm is positive that he want's to finish his career in 2018 and feels he has given all he can to the beautiful game, according to ITV.com.

The retirement of Lahm should not surprise too many fans, especially with Lahm already over 30. Once a soccer player reaches anywhere over 30, talks of retirement are always expected.

Lahm has accomplished tremendous feats during his career, so there is no reason for him to drag out his career like other players that still have not found glory. The German international has appeared more than 100 times for his country and more than 450 times for his club Bayern Munich.

During the past two seasons, Pep Guardiola even shifted the 31-year-old into a central midfield role, calling Lahm as "the most intelligent player he has ever trained in his career." This season Lahm has returned to Bayern's back line in hopes to help the club's defense, according to 90Mins.

His career was capped with a 2014 World Cup victory in Brazil and a Champions League title in 2013.

Lahm will go down as one of the best to ever play the game in a German shirt and his talents will be missed once he retires in 2018.
