Kevin Durant becoming a free agent after the 2015-16 season is at the forefront of most Oklahoma City Thunder fans minds. There will be many teams interested in signing Durant, but the two favorites for his services have always been OKC and his hometown Washington Wizards. Last week, it was reported that Carmelo Anthony is recruiting Durant big time to come to the New York Knicks and that Durant would give them serious consideration. Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman believes that the Knicks are not a threat to sign the Thunder superstar.

Tramel was asked how concerned Thunder fans should be by Anthony recruiting Durant and if he would actually consider New York. While most people think that playing in New York is what every superstar player wants Tramel thinks that Durant won't even consider it.

"I can't think of anything would make Durant stay in OKC any better than considering going to New York. What a disaster. Durant knows that New York is a mess. I think there are other organizations that could appeal to Durant, but not the Knickerbockers," writes Tramel.

This response implies that Durant cares much more about winning than his ability to market himself in the biggest media market in the world. The Thunder will be championship contenders in the 2015-16 season, provided they stay healthy, while the Knicks are coming off a 17-win season and will be lucky to reach 30 wins this year.

In general, the Knicks organization is a mess and they haven't competed for a championship in quite some time, so it isn't a farfetched thought that Durant doesn't want to be a part of that. Another more realistic option for Durant, besides OKC and Washington, might be the Miami Heat, where Pat Riley has proven he can build a championship roster.

We still have a whole season to get through where we can sort through all of these Durant rumors, but the reality is that he is probably just thinking about winning in Oklahoma City this season. One thing is certain though and that is that wherever Durant ends up he wants a chance to win multiple titles and that could be a big problem for the Knicks' pursuit of another superstar.
