Boiled eggs are the simplest to cook. A breakfast favorite, they can be eaten any time of the day or added to other meals, but despite how easy eggs is to prepare, so many still fail to cook the "perfect" boiled eggs.

But what is the perfect boiled egg? Some prefer a clear yellow yolk with a smooth and tender white that's peeled to perfection, according to Serious Eats. While others like boiled eggs with a firm white and a soft yolk, it should still be creamy and mellow without any green rings around the yellow part, according to The Kitchn.

Among the million ways to boil the perfect egg, the method that is said to deliver the best results surprisingly doesn't require any boiling - instead, the eggs are steamed. It involves six simple steps, according to Lexi's Clean Kitchen.

1. Place one inch of water into your pot.

2. Place a steamer insert into pot.

3. Cover pot and bring water to a boil.

4. Add eggs into the steamer basket, cover and cook for six minutes if you want a soft-boiled egg or 11 minutes for a hard-boiled egg.

5. Remove and place eggs directly into a bowl of ice cold water.

6. Peel and enjoy!

Also, take note that when it comes to cooking eggs, fresh ones are likely to stick to the shell after it is steamed or boiled. Serious Eats suggests letting fresh eggs sit for a few weeks before cooking them hard-boiled. Fresh eggs are best used for poaching.
