Actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba responded on behalf of her brand, The Honest Company, after a $5 million lawsuit claimed that the company used deceptive labels when marketing its "all natural" products, Entertainment Tonight reported. She defended her brand in an exclusive statement.

"The allegations against us are baseless and without merit," Alba said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight. "We strongly stand behind our products and the responsibility we have to our consumers. We are steadfast in our commitment to transparency and openness. I know my children, Honor and Haven, are growing up in a safer home because of our products."

Consumer Jonathan D. Rubin is suing The Honest Company for deceptive and misleading marketing for its Honest Diapers, Honest Hand Soap and Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner, as previously reported by HNGN. Rubin's suit also claims that the Honest Sunscreen is "ineffective."

The Honest Company received backlash on social media earlier this summer when a number of consumers posted photos of sunburns they received while using the Honest Sunscreen.

Alba stood by her brand amid the recent lawsuit and said that she launched the company after her first pregnancy in order to make safe and healthy products more accessible.

"I started The Honest Company to develop safe and effective products not just for my children, but for families everywhere," she said in her statement. "I am very proud that we have built this company into an industry leader focused on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love."
