It seems the Dallas Cowboys may not be so happy with their current running back depth chart. According to a report from Vic Lombardi of CBS, the Cowboys are talking a trade for running back Montee Ball with the Denver Broncos.

Ball, a former second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by Denver, has fallen out of favor with the new coaching regime after looking like a very promising ballcarrier during his initial NFL season. During his rookie year, Ball managed 559 rushing yards on 120 attempts. He added 20 receptions for 145 yards.

He appeared in just five games last season due to injury and ineffectiveness, and it seems his future in Denver is all but over.

For the Cowboys, Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden currently sit atop the depth chart, but McFadden has been dealing with injuries and Randle remains mostly an unknown. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys and GM Jerry Jones are able to pull this deal off.

Of course, shortly after Lombardi's report (Benjamin Albright of AM1340 is also reporting that the deal is being discussed) emerged, both Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com both reported that no talks were going on.

Stay tuned on this one, Cowboys fans.
