Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenjon Barner is on the trading block, according to Mark Eckel of NJ.com.

Barner had a fairly productive preseason, averaging 3.7 yards per carry and a touchdown. The only issue is he is getting the least carries for a running back trying to make the team. The Eagles already have a three-headed monster in the backfield with DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles, so they seem fairly confident in running back depth.

There are three running backs competing for one spot, as it would be rare that Kelly chooses to keep five running backs. Barner has the least amount of carries out of these three behind both Raheem Mostert and Kevin Monangai.

If anything, it looks like it Mostert's job, and on Thursday night against the Jets Mostert seemed to lock it up. Mostert rushed for 69 yards on 15 carries, and Barner only carried the ball three times for a total of seven yards.

Kelly is likely shopping Barner around because he doesn't have space on the roster for him. Cutting a team down to a 53-man roster is not easy, and finding backups for needed positions can be difficult. Barner was a sixth round draft pick in 2013, and has really found his place in the league.

In his senior season at offensive juggernaut Oregon, Barner rushed for 1,767 yards and scored 21 touchdowns rushing. If Barner isn't traded he is likely destined for a practice squad or will be cut and picked up by another team. Kelly is likely seeing what he can get for Barner and if there is a position with a more important need for a backup.
