Hungary has now closed its main border with Serbia after 300 migrants were reported to have escape a nearby refugee camp.

"In the interest of preventing accidents, the police have temporarily closed the Roszke motorway border crossing to incoming traffic and are redirecting traffic to (a national road)," police announced in an AFP report.

The border closing and migrants' escape are fresh developments to the ongoing migrant crisis that is confronting Europe. Several thousand migrants were apprehended early Friday and placed in four of Hungary's refugee camps. Around 500 of these clashed with police and refused to get off trains that they believe would take them to the Austrian border, according to the AFP report.

"I have been travelling for 24 days. I paid 200,000 Syrian pounds (£695) to leave Syria. Why? Because I escaped from war, bombs, bullets. Why is there no train?" a frustrated passenger told The Guardian.

European governments are now scrambling for measures as migrants continue to pour into Hungary. One of the issues being debated is the amount of migrants to be accommodated or distributed among European states. Hungary is quick to argue that the crisis is a German problem as most of the migrants are bound for Germany, HNGN previously reported.

"Nobody would like to stay in Hungary, neither in Slovakia, nor Poland, nor Estonia. All of them would like to go to Germany. Our job is only to register them," Prime Minister Viktor Orban was quoted in the Straits Times report. Germany is now locked in negotiations with other European countries regarding the allocation of migrant population.

The U.K. is prepared to accept thousands of Syrian refugees according to Prime Minister David Cameron in a BBC News report
