A Syrian boy was found on the shore of a famous Turkish resort, sparking discussion over European immigration after photos of his body went viral, according to Fox News.

One photo shows the 3-year-old in a red shirt lying face down on the beach, and another picture shows a Turkish officer carrying the small child's body ashore as his lifeless limbs dangled in his arms.

The boy was believed to be a victim of a capsized boat carrying at least 11 other immigrants making their way to Kos Island.

There was an additional boat that Turkish authorities believe capsized as well, resulting in the fatalities of four other children and a woman, according to the New York Daily News.

Authorities were able to verify nine other survivors, with seven being rescued and two others swimming ashore.

The photo highlights the European immigration crisis in response to fleeing Syrian immigrants, according to the Guardian.

Save the Children CEO Justin Forsyth said the boy's death is a reminder of the plight of fleeing immigrants and should spur a solution to Europe's immigration problem, which many believe is at its peak.

"This tragic image of a little boy who's lost his life fleeing Syria is shocking and is a reminder of the dangers children and families are taking in search of a better life," said Forsyth. "This child's plight should concentrate minds and force the EU to come together and agree to a plan to tackle the refugee crisis."
