Supermodel Cindy Crawford was the victim of an unretouched photo leak scandal when a heavily edited picture from her Marie Claire photoshoot circulated and sparked a discussion about her body. Crawford opened up about how she felt about the unflattering image and spoke about the lesson she learned in her new cover story in the October issue of Elle Canada.

"I felt blindsided. I was very conflicted, to be honest," the 49-year-old supermodel told Elle Canada. "I know my body, and I know it's not perfect, but maybe I have a false body image; maybe I think I look better than I do."

She said the image made her feel self-conscious and insecure, but the photographer that she worked with spoke out against the leaked photos. He said they were heavily edited and even sent Crawford the real unedited version so she could see the proof herself.

But the wife and mom-of-two didn't let the leak get her down for long. In fact, she said she took the negative situation and turned it into a positive, teachable moment for her 14-year-old daughter Kaia.

"This is exactly the type of thing that I wouldn't want my daughter to do to another girl online," Crawford said. "It's social bullying. I'm a big girl and I can handle it, but I used it as a teaching lesson for my own daughter because my kids were like 'Mom, you don't look like that!"
