In the popular comic book story "Civil War," Spider-Man allied with Tony Stark's Iron Man and the billionaire inventor provided everyone's favorite web-head with the Iron Spider battle suit. With several rumors suggesting that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will wear two Spider-Man costumes in next year's "Captain America: Civil War," several fans have made a similar connection for the film adaptation.

However, a new rumor suggests that Stark will not be providing Spider-Man with a  new suit, he'll give him something even more helpful: his web-shooters.

"Latino-Review has been told that the original comic book plot of Iron Spider will not be part of 'Civil War' but instead Stark will be the one responsible for creating Spidey's web shooters," Kellvin Chavez wrote.

"When we first meet young Spider-Man, Peter Parker will be a hero using only things a teenager has access to while Stark has the capability of making more 'hero ready' suits (he has a line about making the Avengers 'look cool' in Age of Ultron).

"It's possible that Spidey's side isn't decided by who gives him the coolest clothes if the comic is any indication. Then again, the parallels between the Civil War comics line and the Civil War movie are fewer and fewer the more we learn."

Peter had organic web shooters in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films but invented them using OsCorp technology in the Marc Webb "Amazing Spider-Man" series. The creation is normally used as a strong indication of Peter's intellect and used as one of his most effective crime fighting tools.

Details on Spider-Man's exact role in "Captain America: Civil War" remain unknown, though there are a few rumors that hint at his involvement. Either way, it should be an entertaining MCU debut for the character.

"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
