Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to pursue General Motors, pushing for a merger between the two companies, according to Fortune. GM CEO Mary Barra, however, continues to reject the deal despite the multiple offers.

Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is convinced the deal is too good for anyone in their right mind to pass up.

Having done the math, Marchionne believes that if the two companies merged, they could rake in around $30 billion a year, according to Automotive News

He also said on many occasions that while he could sell or merge his company with any number of potential partners out there, the merger between GM and Fiat Chrysler would be the most lucrative and successful, according to Automotive News.

Barra has refused to meet with Marchionne despite his almost "hostile" persistence, according to Fortune.

GM has repeatedly rejected the idea of a merger, having reviewed Marchionne's most recent proposal and emailing this statement in response:

"Our management and board are always working to maximize shareholder value. After we completed a thorough review of a possible merger with FCA, we concluded that executing our current plan is the best way to create value for GM stockholders," according to USA Today
