Khloé Kardashian and Kris Jenner are being sued by 12 residents of Marina Del Rey, Calif. after they set off a 15 minute firework show late at night for James Harden's birthday.

All 12 residents demanded $7,500 each, from the "Keeping up with the Kardashian" stars, the maximum amount allowed in California small claims court, reported TMZ.

The residents suing said that money was not the object of the suit. They wanted to come face-to-face with Kardashian and Jenner and confront them for conduct they thought was rude and extremely selfish.

Residents chose small claims courts was because lawyers are not allowed in the lower court and the family must appear themselves. The 12 residents sued the family for "emotional distress" when they thought Los Angeles was "under attack," reported the Daily News.

Last week, Kardashian threw a birthday party for her NBA star boyfriend Harden on a yacht and set off live fireworks around midnight. The party went on until 1 a.m., a source told People magazine.

"The fireworks show was amazing. It went on for a while and lit up the whole sky. Everyone was very impressed," the source said. "Khloé had organized everything with the help of [party planner] Sharon Sacks. James seemed very happy."

Over the weekend Kardashian told Entertainment Tonight that everything had been done according to the rules.

"I got all the permits," she said. "Someone couldn't release those fireworks if you didn't get [one]. The company's licenses would've been revoked, so of course I got everything I had to do to do so. No one would just take that risk."

Kardashian, 31, was first reported to be seeing the Harden two months ago.
