Czech Republic President Milos Zeman has issued a bold statement on the issue of illegal immigrants trying to seek asylum in the country, stating that the army must be mobilized to help curb the massive influx of refugees into the bloc, according to Bloomberg.

The Czech president has also voiced his dissatisfaction at the European Union, which he states is not doing enough to battle the massive wave of immigrants trying to get into the country using illegal means.

"Of course I would wish for the EU to strengthen its borders, but I don't see any real action," he said. "Therefore, I believe the Czech Republic should take care of its borders alone and expel illegal immigrants from the borders, including with the use of the army."

Zeman's coments echo those of a number of notable politicians in the government who are also concerned about the problem with the massive number of migrants attempting to enter the country.

At a press briefing in Prague, the president further stated that he expects the immigrant problem to escalate, mainly due to the continuing turmoil prevalent in North Africa and the Middle East. He also expects a tsunami of refugees in the form of the families of those who have already been granted asylum in the EU, reports Radio Prague.

The refugee crisis in central Europe has continued to escalate lately, with Austrian police finding the dead bodies of 71 immigrants in a Hungarian-licensed truck last week, as covered previously by HNGN.
