The New England Patriots (1-1) will travel to Bank of America Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers (2-0) at 7:30 PM ET tonight. This is the third preseason game for both teams which is normally when coaches give starters the most playing time before the regular season.

Despite a looming suspension hanging over his head for Deflategate, quarterback Tom Brady is expected to get a significant amount of snaps in this one. Through two preseason games, Brady has been on the field for 16 snaps across five offensive drives. In that time, New England's offense has sputtered to four three-and-outs and Brady has completed just three-of-nine pass attempts for 23 yards. That's not what you want to see from the future Hall of Famer or an offense expected to compete for a second-straight Super Bowl trophy.

These preseason woes aren't all Brady's fault, of course. He has been playing without top wide receivers Julian Edelman and Brandon LaFell, as well as top tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Scott Chandler. However, coach Bill Belichick has said that he will use this game as a preview for the regular season from a game-planning standpoint, so it would be encouraging to see Brady and the offense get into a rhythm out there.

On the other side, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will face a tough test tonight as he continues to try and adjust to life without star wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin whose season was ended by a torn ACL. Carolina's offense looked stunted last week without Benjamin, failing to record a single first down anjd gaining just eight yards in the first quarter.

Newton will have to quickly develop a rapport with second-round rookie wide receiver Devin Funchess. Funchess has been dealing with a hamstring injury this preseason but is expected to return tonight. He and tight end Greg Olsen will be depended upon to pick up the slack left in the wake of Benjamin's injury.
