1. "Go Set A Watchman" written by Harper Lee

Currently leading the New York Times Best Seller ranking, "Go Set A Watchman" is the second book from the esteemed author of the classic novel "To Kill A Mocking Bird."  The book is set in the 1950s in Maycomb, Ala. and centers on a young woman's return to her hometown to attend to her aging father. Characters from Lee's first book are also in the story, but this is not a sequel. "Go Set A Watchman" has been dubbed as "the publishing event of the decade," according to The Guardian.

2.  "The Girl On The Train" written by Paula Hawkins

Easily one of the best books to be published this year, the book has also been topping the best-seller list since its release in January. It is written in three viewpoints and follows a girl who becomes a witness to something she saw by the train window. The physiological thriller is set to become a movie soon, and has in fact, found its female lead this week, according to Deadline

3. "The Martian" written by Mark Watney

First published in 2011 and then re-published last year, this book appeals to lovers of sci-fi and thrillers. The story centers on a man who becomes the first person to land on Mars. It is "Apollo 13 Meets Castaway," according to Goodreads reviews.

4. "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" written by Mindy Kaling

For 20-something women readers, this book is a fun and easy read. The actress' memoir touches on several aspects of her life and work including her "The Office" co-star Steve Carell. Kaling also dishes advice in this book. The actress is due to release her second book, "Why Not Me," next month, according to Amazon.

5. "The Land of Stories" written by Chris Colfer

The star of "Glee" is also a best-selling writer and this book will appeal to pre-teens and the younger set. "The Land of Stories" is about twins who discover a magical book at their grandma's place. It's a collection of well-loved fairy tale stories, with a twist. While catering to young adult readers, the adventure book may also be a pleasant summer read for adults.
