A suspect was named on Friday in a mysterious shooting that left four young people dead in rural Tennessee, CNN reported.

Although he has not been formally charged, Jacob Allen Bennett is the only listed suspect in the case according to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn.

The four victims were discovered on Thursday in a car on Renegade Mountain after someone passed by. They have been identified as Danielle Jacobson, 22; Steven Presley, 17; Dominic Davis, 17; and John Lajeunesse, 16. Their bodies have been submitted for autopsies.

The victims were found in an area that's mostly home to small families, although it used to be a retirement home, ski resort, and golf club.

Local residents expressed their shock at the crime and said nothing like this has ever happened in the area.

"I couldn't believe it. Especially since there were kids involved. It shocked me," said Hershel D. Sanders.

Authorities believe all four individuals were specifically targeted and do not think the local community is in danger from the shooter. The U.S. Marshal's Service and the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole have joined the investigation to assist officials in finding witnesses or suspects.

John Moore, homeowners associations president for the Renegade Mountain community, mentioned the car was found in an area that had previous issues with people who traveled to the area to produce meth.

A Facebook page for the community posted a statement on Thursday notifying residents of the crime and emphasizing that anyone with information should come forward.

"There was a multiple murder with in Renegade Resort earlier this morning. Full time residents passing the area will be stopped and questioned As to who they are and what they are doing here, then allowed to travel on. Anyone with knowledge of a blue car sitting about 100 feet into the Eagle's nest lower entrance is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's office at once. We need to work ever harder to overcome this negative publicity. It is still a great place to live," the statement read.
