It's been less than a year since the finale of FX's most popular show "Sons of Anarchy" aired and fans are missing their motorcycle gang fix. Luckily enough, creator Kurt Sutter is in the very early stages of developing a spinoff show for FX.

Not many details have been given about this spinoff yet, but it's definitely going to be set in the Northern California motorcycle club scene, according to Entertainment Weekly. It's also unclear if this will be a prequel or just a new show with similar focus. The project, which does not yet have a name, will focus on the Mayans, the Hispanic Motorcycle Club who played a pretty key role in the original series.

With the finale of "Sons" setting record ratings with 9.2 million viewers, it makes sense that FX and Sutter would want to bring on a new drama set in a similar tone.

The time period and cast have not yet been discussed, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Sons" stars could return to play their parts, or they could not. A writer for the show has not yet been locked in yet, either.

"Sons" popularity made Sutter one of the most recognizable show runners in the TV industry, so it makes sense that he'd want to do a spinoff of some sort, along with his newest medieval drama "The Bastard Executioner" which premieres on September 15. In regards to this new drama, he not only created it, but he is producing, writing, directing and even playing a role in the series.

"Creatively, I wanted to do something really different," Sutter said on the medieval drama. "On 'The Shield' we just ran out of ways for Vic to f--k people up and eventually on 'Sons' it became, 'How do I make yet another chase scene different and interesting?' you just get a little burned out."

Hopefully, the new Mayan series will be allow him to bring on a whole new plot to keep the popular franchise alive.
