The last time we saw Wesley Snipes as the badass vampire-hunting daywalker known as Blade was more than a decade ago. But recent rumors suggest the character could be making a comeback and entering the MCU. However, he won't be the focal point of any new films.

Bleeding Cool reports that Marvel Studios is considering a new "Blade" film following the lead character's daughter. Blade made his film debut back in 1998 which was followed up by "Blade II" in 2003 and "Blade Trinity" in 2004. Although the last film in the trilogy was savaged by critics, the first two movies helped to establish comic book properties as viable blockbusters.

New Line Cinemas lost the rights to the property following ten years of inactivity, meaning that Marvel Studios can now include the character in their shared cinematic universe. However, the Studio has not made any official movies towards a Blade revival, though Snipes has confirmed having meetings about revisiting the character.

Shifting the focus to his daughter could refresh the genre a bit. As of now, 2018's "Captain Marvel" is the only female-led superhero project on Marvel's docket. Changing the standard white-male hero formula up could reinvigorate interest in the MCU a bit.  Including Snipes' Blade as a mentor/trainer, similar to Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa in the upcoming "Creed," would be a great way to marry the past franchise with any planned projects down the road.
