When we return to Starling City, our main characters will most likely be reeling from the devastation at the end of last season. According to a recent interview Katie Cassidy did with EOnline, last season’s events have made Laurel a little different than when we last saw her.

"She has definitely grieved a bit and tried to deal with the death of Tommy and the Glades being destroyed, and I feel she has mainly focused her energy on working to distract herself so she does not have to deal with it. She definitely goes into a darker place," Cassidy told the website. "You see her doing stuff that you would never imagine or think she would do, but it's credited because Tommy passed."

My hope for this season was that Laurel would find her way to Oliver (Stephen Amell.) However, it seems that she’s going to be going through some things, which may put a hold any potential love story she has with the hero of Starling City.

In the comic books she becomes the Black Canary but it has been reported that we will be introduced to Laurel’s sister who returns as the Black Canary in the CW version of the story. This could mean that the executive producers and the writers are staying away from the comics. It could also mean that Laurel will become the Canary later on down the line since the show is an origin story.

“Arrow” returns Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
