During a recent Reddit AMA session, UFC superstar Ronda Rousey was asked who she would want to play in a Marvel movie. Her answer: Captain Marvel. How coincidental because it just so happens that the studio is developing their first female led superhero blockbuster around Captain Marvel for a 2018 release.

Although prominent actresses like Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron have been rumored for the role, Rousey's butt-kicking ways would enable the superhero to take on a whole new level of action packed awesomeness. It's why we can't blame her for sharing fan art depicting her as the titular superhero on her Instagram.

It's also why nerd connoisseur Kevin Smith supports the idea 100 percent.

"You see her in that picture?" Smith said when asked about the matter by TMZ. "C'mon. You don't even need to think at this point. There's an image. We can see it. She looks amazing. Lord knows she's one of the only people who would play a superhero that would actually beat the s--- out of somebody. I would like to see it happen."

The upcoming Marvel movie will feature the iconic Carol Danvers as the super powered heroine. Not for nothing, but the images do look pretty convincing.

But a few cool looking graphics does not make a quality comic book movie. Anyone remember Ryan Reynolds and "Green Lantern?" However, to Rousey's credit, she has been amassing some solid screen credits with recent high profile projects like "Furious 7" and "Entourage." That doesn't necessarily translate to a starring lead role in a big budget Marvel movie, but it also doesn't hurt.

We'll keep you posted if Marvel shows any signs of taking Rousey's interest seriously.
