Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has been confirmed as a new coach on "The Voice U.K.", BBC News reports, set to work with will.i.am and Tom Jones on the upcoming third series of the popular singing competition.

The Grammy award-winning singer has sold more than 68 million records worldwide and released eleven studio albums with a twelfth currently in the works. She is perhaps best known for her hit single "Can't Get You Out Of My Head," which peaked at No. 7 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

"I'm very excited," Minogue told BBC News of her new gig. "I love the concept of the show and have been an avid viewer of both series. Will I be competitive? Probably more than even I imagine! Watch this space!"

This isn't the first time that Minogue has had a taste of coaching singing competition contestants. Her sister, Dannii Minogue, has been a judge on the UK and Australian versions of "The X-Factor," and Kylie has been at her side multiple times to help coach and select contestants.

"In terms of pop royalty, it really doesn't get much better than Kylie," Moira Ross of "The Voice U.K." production company, Wall To Wall, said to BBC News. "With more than two decades of global success under her belt, I know she'll bring something truly special to the coaching line-up."

Minogue recently took to Twitter to express her excitement over joining the cast. "#LOVERS," she tweeted earlier today. "I'm excited to announce that I'll be coaching on @BBCTheVoiceUK next season!" Fans responded with enthusiasm, though one pointed out they hoped this meant Minogue would soon embark on a world tour.

"Kylie is a hugely respected figure within the world of music and will be a fantastic addition to 'The Voice U.K.,'" said Mark Linsey, controller, entertainment commissioning at the BBC. "She is a true pop icon and her longevity in the industry is testament to her creative and musical ability."

Will.i.am also expressed his delight at Mingoue joining the show as a coach, admitting that although he will miss Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue, both of whom have left the show, he is ready to "mix it up and bring new energy and ideas" to the panel with his newest cast member. The fourth remaining judge has yet to be decided.

The third series of "The Voice U.K." is set to air January 2014.
