Actor and WWE wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will set sail in the upcoming Disney film "Jungle Cruise," the Hollywood Reporter reported. The star of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise is trading in speeding cars for a cruise down the Amazon.

"Sean Bailey [Disney production president] and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins," Johnson told the Hollywood Reporter. "We're starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go."

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (the duo behind 2015's "Focus") are onboard as screenwriters, Deadline Hollywood reported. The film will be based on the Disney ride of the same title, which features a cruise down the Nile and Amazon rivers as it takes thrill seekers on a tour through the wild jungles.

"Jungle Cruise" was one of the original attractions at the Anaheim's Disneyland when the theme park opened in 1955, according to Entertainment Weekly. After the wildly successful "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, Disney is testing the waters and attempting to turn another beloved attraction into a hit franchise.

Other upcoming Disney attraction-turned-film projects are 2017's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" and the Guillermo del Toro-directed "Haunted Mansion" remake, which is currently in development.

Johnson will also provide the voice for a lead role in the upcoming animated Disney film, "Moana," which is scheduled for a 2016 release.
