The ill-fated Trigana Air flight that crashed in a remote mountainous area in Indonesia has been found to be carrying cash for the poor.

After the black box to the aircraft was found by rescuers, new information about the contents of the aircraft in Indonesia have emerged this week, as rescuers and searchers discovered nearly half a million dollars in cash among the wreckage, presumably to be distributed to the poor.

Andi Dulung, director-general of social support at the Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs, has stated that the Trigana Air flight was carrying officials from the Indonesia postal service, who were about to distribute the money to about 6,600 people in the region, according to CNN.

Hadi Djuraid, a Transport Ministry official, has stated that some of the money found in the crash site was burned, while some remained in fairly good condition. The funds were supposed to be handed out to the poor in cash, due to the limitations of local banks to withdraw money in the area, Valley News Live reported.

Registered families in the area were due to receive about 600,000 rupiahs ($50) worth of funds. The drive to provide assistance has been going on for some time now, with 4,350 families already receiving their share of the monetary assistance.

Details of the air crash have not yet been determined, though the discovery of the plane's black box, which contains voice recordings from the plane's cockpit, may help shed light on the circumstances that transpired prior to the fateful crash.

The airplane was carrying 54 passengers, which include 44 adults, 5 children, and 5 crew members when it crashed. There were no survivors.
