The FX Network has officially bought the exclusive U.S. commercial television rights to "Straight Outta Compton" after the movie made $60.2 million its opening weekend at the box office, according to Variety. Universal was the studio behind the film, which had the fifth-highest August premiere of all time and the biggest August debut for an R-rated film.

FX made a good habit of and has been known for picking up the TV rights for box office hits in the past two years, reported Deadline. As of late, FX has snagged the rights to several impressive box office hits in the past year.

The network also picked up the rights to "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" two weeks ago and grabbed the rights to "Minions," "Jurassic World" and "Furious 7." FX Networks this year also licensed "Trainwreck," "Spy," "Pixels," "Terminator: Genisys," "Ted 2," "Pitch Perfect 2," "Taken 3," "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and "Home."

In 2014 FX nailed down the rights to two-thirds, or 67%, of the films that grossed more than $100 million at the domestic box office.

The "Straight Outta Compton" film revolved around the rise and fall of the Compton, Calif. hip-hop group, N.W.A. and was named after the group's 1988 debut studio album.

For now, Ice Cube, Easy-E, Dr. Dre and company will be slated to run on FX sometime after the film's stint in theathers is over. The exact date has yet to be released.

The FX networks includes FX, FXX, FXM and the VOD platform FXNOW, reported to TheWrap.
