Starbucks announced Monday it's adding a new ingredient to its popular Pumpkin Spice Latte this year: real pumpkin!

Last year, Vani Hari criticized Starbucks on her website Food Babe after discovering that the popular drink contained no actual pumpkin and a slew of artificial ingredients, according to the Washington Post.

"After reading the ingredients in the Pumpkin Spice Latte, I can tell you that there's absolutely no pumpkin," she wrote.

While not crediting her with motivating the change, the coffee chain opted to alter the recipe and stop using artificial ingredients and colors in its products — joining the likes of Kellogg's and Pepsi in doing so.

"After hearing from customers and partners about ingredients, we took another look at this beverage and why we created it so many years ago," wrote Peter Dukes, Starbucks' director of espresso, Americas, in a blog post. "So, with that great taste you know and love, the PSL returns this fall, and this time it will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring."

Dukes lists the drink's ingredients in his post, which include sugar, condensed skim milk, pumpkin purée, annatto seed coloring and the preservative potassium sorbate. The "pumpkin spice topping" is made of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove, according to ABC News.

Starbucks' new iteration of the Pumpkin Spice Latte will be available Aug. 25.
