Jimmy Kimmel is the mastermind behind the epic twerk fail video that went viral on YouTube.

"I tried making a sexy twerk video for my boyfriend and things got a little too hot," user Caitlin Heller wrote in the description of the twerk-hoax.

Kimmel showed the extended version of the young woman falling onto a glass table and setting herself on fire, revealing he was the one who put out the flames on the hot pants.

We were one of the many news outlets who reported Heller's dance video gone horribly wrong, and fell right into the palm of the late night talk show host. Except her name isn't Caitlin, it is Daphne Avalon and she's a stuntwoman.

Avalon is quite accomplished in her career; she's worked on Glee, Call of Duty, Welcome to The Family, and many more projects. Her accomplishments explain why she was very convincing and fooled most of the video's Internet viewers and media outlets.

To top off the act, everything in the video was staged so convincingly, from the candles on the table to the bottle of booze and cut up limes. And the screaming girls were believable, so Kimmel played us well.

And of course, it wouldn't be Jimmy Kimmel's style if he didn't end the segment with another dig at the media after revealing the authenticity of the clip.

"Good thing nothing is happening in Syria right now," Kimmel said after showing a reel of all the news organizations that reported the video.

Touché, Kimmel. Hopefully the viral video puts an end to twerking, and people think before posting embarrassing videos online, since the media loves a great viral clip.
