A church in Jemison, Ala. has built a gun range and launched a range ministry all "in the name of Jesus Christ."

Pastor Phillip Guin of the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church explains that the church initially thought of the range as a place where civilians can be taught about gun safety. However, the range eventually evolved into a developed gun range ministry after interest and involvement grew, according to Breitbart.

"We had quite a number of church members, some elderly ladies, for example, and some not so elderly women that had purchased guns, but didn't know how to use them," said Guin of the Rocky Mount Hunt and Golf Club, WIAT reported.

"This is an opportunity for us to reach out in the name of Jesus Christ in a setting that is completely unique," he added. "Even odd by some people's standards. But who's to say that church can't happen right here."

Guin described the gun range as "a kind of means of grace" and that he also sees it as an opportunity to meet other people and "share the love of Jesus with them." Guin added that the feedback that the gun range has been receiving has all been positive.

The range is partnering with the Jemison Police Department to give drills, while numerous pastors have also contacted Guin with an interest in using the range. The cost for the use of the range is $25 individually and $50 as a family, according to ABC 33/40 News.
