The Anaheim Ducks acquired Carl Hagelin from the New York Rangers during the 2015 NHL Draft. Hagelin, unfortunately, was without a contract. The Ducks took care of that on Friday, signing Hagelin to a new four-year deal, the team announced. Curtis of Zupke reports that the deal is worth $16 million, which, of course, means an AAV of $4 million.

Hagelin was acquired by Ducks GM Bob Murray, along with a second-round pick and sixth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft in exchange for Emerson Etem and a higher second-round pick.

"Selected by the Rangers in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Hagelin was one of three Rangers to appear in all 82 games last season," reads the team's release announcing the move. "With 17-18=35 points and a +18 rating, Hagelin tied for third among team leaders in game-winning goals (4), tied for second in even-strength goals (16) and second in shots on goal (185). The 6-0, 186-pound winger set career highs in games and shots, and matched a career best in goals in 2014-15."

Hagelin reached the playoffs four consecutive seasons with the Rangers. Over 226-career games with the Broadway Blueshirts Hagelin collected 58 goals and 72 assists.

For the Ducks, Hagelin represented the final contract question on bench boss Bruce Boudreau's roster. He's likely set for top-six duties with the team next year alongside Ryan Kesler and Jakob Silfverberg.
