Lindsey Vonn reportedly had an accident while training in New Zealand on Thursday and has fractured a bone in her ankle, according to Christof Stace of MSN.

Vonn, an American alpine ski racer, sent out a tweet early Thursday morning letting her 300 thousand plus followers know the news. The tweet reads "Unfortunately I crashed today and have a small fracture in my ankle. Headed home now but will keep u posted." There aren't many details on the injury other then what Vonn put on Twitter.

Vonn was in the midst of her second week of training in New Zealand for the new skiing seasons when the injury occurred. It is unclear which ankle she fractured but either way she should have plenty of time to heal and rehab before the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea where Vonn has said she will race.

Vonn has a very long injury history over her career dating back to 2006 when she crashed on a downhill training run and had to be airlifted off the mountain. More recently Vonn suffered a complete tear of her ACL at the 2013 World Cup and was forced to withdraw from the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

Vonn did come back last season from those serious knee injuries to win her seventh World Cup title while setting the all-time women's World Cup record for wins. Vonn is currently 30 years old and will be 34 during the next Olympics. She has said that she will compete in South Korea but who knows if this latest injury will change her mind.

Vonn has competed in three Olympics in her skiing career (2002, 2006 & 2012) and hopes that the 2016 Olympics are her fourth and her last. She won a gold medal for the Downhill slope in Vancouver and a bronze medal for the Super-G also in Vancouver in 2010.
