Jennifer Carpenter Gives Birth: 'Dexter' Star Welcomes First Child With Seth Avett (PHOTOS)

Jennifer Carpenter secretly gave birth to her first child months ago!

The 35-year-old former "Dexter" actress and her fienace, The Avett Brothers musician Seth Avett, welcomed their first child in May but didn't make the announcement until now, according to People. Back in February, her rep confirmed that she and Avett were engaged and expecting their first child, but they never revealed exactly how far along she was. According to Avett's Instagram account, it's been about three months since she gave birth!

On Monday, Carpenter, who keeps her personal life very private, spoke about her pregnancy for the first time while at a TCA panel. She has a role in the upcoming show Limitless, which premieres September 22, and she revealed that she had a hard time hiding her baby bump.

"I felt pretty equipped," she said about taking on a new role. "It was more about ignoring my current circumstances of being 8 1/2 months pregnant while we were shooting the pilot, and asking everyone else to pretend that stomach wasn't there."

When it came to hiding her bump, she's thankful for the production staff.

"We have an incredible costume designer and he worked miracles," she said, according to E! News. "I'm actually wearing something in the second episode that we tried to wear in the first around my pregnant belly. I don't know if he's a magician or what but Marc Webb's camera angles, people crossing at the right time, I actually bumped into [co-star Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio]'s desk at one point and that actually made it into the show. It was magic...I have my mother's frame."

Carpenter and Avett met in 2013, both freshly out of very serious relationships," according to Daily Mail. She was previously married to her "Dexter" co-star Michael C. Hall for three years.

"They have a lot in common and seem to have a similar sense of humor," a source told Us Weekly when she and Avett started dating. "There is an ease about their relationship. They are a good match."
