A defiant Nick Gordon plans to hold his own funeral service for his girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown, who died on July 26. The "adopted" son of Whitney Houston was shut out of Brown's official funeral held on Aug. 1 at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga.

Gordon announced his plans on a Facebook post by Mason Whitaker - reportedly a close friend to Gordon and Brown - that referred to Brown, according to ET Online. He commented, "We have our own service remembering and honoring Krissi. Only the real family that actually was there for her will attend."

The comment was later removed, but Whitaker did mention on another post that Brown's friends would hold a "public celebration" that anyone could attend. They have not announced a date for the celebration.

Gordon wrote a letter to Brown's father Bobby Brown and aunt/legal guardian Pat Houston an email begging him to attend the funeral. When the family declined his request, he went to the beach with his mother Michelle Gordon to honor Bobbi Kristina's passing.

"He said the beach was always their favorite place to go so he decided that he would honor her at a place they both loved," Michelle told People.

Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in her bathtub on January 31 and never woke up again. The events that led to her death are still under investigation, but a new lawsuit filed against Nick by Brown's estate that claims he gave her a "toxic cocktail" and placed her face-down in the bathtub full of cold water, causing her to suffer brain damage.

So far, Nick faces no criminal charges.
