An IKEA stabbing attack in Sweden Monday has left two dead and one in critical condition, Swedish police say.

Police report receiving a call about the incident at around 1 p.m.

"We found a man and a woman who had knife injuries and who later died of their wounds," the police said in a statement, according to Sky News.

Mattias Johansson, department store manager at IKEA, told reporters that the victims appeared to be "three seemingly ordinary visitors." He later revealed that the stabbing took place in the store's kitchen accessories department.

Police confirmed that the first two victims knew each other but failed to comment on their relationship or wheter they knew the attacker, according to Daily Mail

The third victim, a 35-year-old male, was rushed to a local hospital and underwent surgery, Eva Lindahl, a spokeswoman for the regional health care authority told AFP, according to Times Of Israel. Information about his connection to the stabbing (if any) will be made clear once he's in stable condition. 

Upon finding the alleged suspect, he was arrested and held on suspicion of murder.

Police disclosed no other information about the identities of the attacker nor the victims. An investigation is currently underway.
