Ever since Valerie Bertinelli lost weight, she's made sure to stop checking and stressing over the number on the scale. Eight years ago, the 55-year-old "Hot in Cleveland" actress lost 40 pounds thanks to the Jenny Craig program, according to Entertainment Tonight. After putting 15 of the pounds back on, she realized she needed to stop checking the scale.

"It's always going to be a struggle for me my entire life," she said. "I'm going to have up and down days."

A lot of her weight gain had to do with the fact that she broke her foot in 2014, according to Us Weekly. She wasn't able to work out due to the injury and started to notice "the number on her scale creeping up" following the injury.

"I have gained a few pounds since I broke my foot and it started to panic me at a certain point, and I thought, 'No, wait a minute. This is my body. I'm almost 54, I broke my foot. I haven't been able to move,'" she said at the time. "I started thinking, 'Why do I feel so much shame? Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can't wait to get a picture of me looking like I've gained a few pounds?' We have to take the shame out of it! It's not fair."

Bertinelli isn't going to let a little weight gain get her down, though. She has a show, "Valerie's Home Cooking," premiering this Saturday at 12 p.m. on Food Network and she couldn't be more excited to share some of her family's secret recipes.
