The Toronto Raptors have a very deep roster as of right now heading into the 2015-16 season but that hasn't stopped them from adding players to bring into training camp. The maximum amount of players you can have under contract before the season starts is 20 and the Raptors reportedly have just signed their 18th player and that is Shannon Scott, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.

The reported deal includes a partial guarantee and Scott will have a chance to impress the Raptors coaching staff when training camp starts in over a month. Scott was undrafted out of Ohio State where he played for four seasons. He is a 6 foot-1 point guard that didn't do much scoring in college but he is an excellent passer and developed into a very good defender as well. In his senior season as Ohio state last year Scott averaged 8.5 points and 5.9 assists per game while making 41 percent of his field goals and 28 percent of his threes.

Scott played in the summer league with the San Antonio Spurs where he played in nine games and averaged 5.3 points, 4.8 assists and 1.7 steals in 22.6 minutes per game. Scott did shoot 55 percent from the field for the summer league champions but he did struggle a bit with turnovers.

Scott is the fourth point guard on the Raptors roster after this reported deal behind Kyle Lowry, Cory Joseph and first round draft pick Delon Wright. As the fourth point guard it is very likely that Scott is a candidate to be cut late by the Raptors and sent to the D-League. Scott can use some time in the D-League as he needs time to develop his offensive game and more specifically his jump shot.

Scott does have the potential to be a solid NBA point guard as he was a highly touted recruit before he attended Ohio State and was a McDonald's All-American. Scott has enough size and athleticism to compete with other NBA point guards but his inability to standout in college after being so highly thought of is a bit of a concern.
