For the third year in a row Robert Downey Jr. has been named the world's highest paid actor by Forbes. "The Avengers" actor made an astounding $80 million last year thanks to "Avengers: Age of Untron" and the forthcoming "Capatin America: Civil War," for which he is reported to be making $40 million.

Coming in at second place is China's action star Jackie Chan. China's biggest movie star made $50 million this past year thanks to the movie "Dragon Blade" and the extension of his brand. His empire includes a line of Chan-branded merchandise, a Segway dealership and an eponymous cinema chain, according to Forbes. Chan has two movies coming out later this year: he'll voice a character in "Kung Fu Panda 3" and star opposite Johnny Knoxville in "Skiptrace," an east and west co-production that lists Chan as an investor.

Rounding out the top five are American actors Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Adam Sandler. Diesel made a surprising $47 million thanks to his role as Dominic Toretto in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. Cooper comes in with $41.5 million thanks to his ability to balance blockbuster films and Oscar-winning pieces like "American Sniper." Right behind Cooper, Sandler made a solid $41 million thanks to a fat paycheck for the bomb "Pixels" and his four-movie contract with Netflix.

Six of the top 10 actors hail from the United States. Besides Chan, three Bollywood stars cracked the top of the list. Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan are tied for seventh place with $33.5 million, just ahead of Akshay Kumar's $32.5 million haul.
