SoftBank is now taking pre-orders for the "Pepper for Biz" version of Pepper, the humanoid assistant robot.

The first 1,000 units of the company's Pepper Robot sold out for $1,610 during its release in June. Now, the robot is making a comeback and can be rented for $440 a month.

Those who want to rent the robot will have to sign a three-year contract, which totals $15,940 in rental charges.

Last month, Pepper landed a $236 million investment from Alibaba and Foxconn, which each now own a 20 percent stake in SoftBank Robotics Holdings, Tech Crunch reports.

Pepper exhibits a variety of uses, one of which is to interact with elderly people. In Japan, care homes are understaffed and more than 40 percent of the people will reach age 65 by 2060, Tech Crunch adds.

Pepper does not target any specific business, though given its capacity to greet shoppers in a store or customers at a reception business, it will be most likely that businesses offering customer service and retail stores will make more use out of the humanoid robot.

The business version of the Pepper Robot will be made available to enterprise on the 1st of October, Geeky Gadgets reports.

So far, the robot is only available in Japan, but Softbank founder Masayoshi Son, along with the investors Alibaba and Foxconn, hopes to offer the robot outside of Japan next year, Mashable reports.
