Winter is coming, and so is the end of "Game of Thrones." HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said on Thursday during the television network's presentation at the Television Critics Association that the show will most likely end after the eighth season.

"The question is how much beyond the seventh season we're going to do. Obviously we're shooting six now and hopefully discussing seven. They're feeling like they're probably two more years after six." Lombardo said. TheWrap reported. "I've said before, I would always love for them to change their minds but that's what we're looking at right now."

Lombardo has previously gone on record admitting that he wants to see "Game of Thrones" run for a decade.

"We started this journey with David and Dan. It's their vision. Would I love the show to go 10 years as both a fan and a network executive? Absolutely," he said earlier this year, according to Variety. "We'll have an honest conversation that explores all possible avenues ... What I'm not going to do is have a show continue past where the creators believe where they feel they've finished with the story."

The president of programming also addressed the number one question on everyone's mind: what is the real fate of slain Jon Snow?

"Dead is dead is dead. He be dead," Lombardo said, bluntly. "Everything I've seen, heard, and read, Jon Snow is dead."

Season six of "Game of Thrones" is currently filming in Belfast and other locations around the world. The sixth season is going to premier sometime in the spring of 2016.
