Creative Assembly has released an impressive 10-minute demo of "Total War: Warhammer," the newest installment in the "Total War" game series.

The footage, which introduced The Battle of Black Fire Pass, one of the Quest Battles in the upcoming game, showed a massive conflict between the Empire and the Greenskins. Digital Spy learned that this was taken from the press demo shown during the E3 expo and was a scripted battle from the still unfinished game.

Based from the video, fans should expect a radical shift in storyline, as "Total War" diverges in the choice of war setting, opting to use fantasy rather than the real world scenario used in previous games such as "Total War: Attila." At launch, the player can now choose Orcs, (the Greenskins), Dwarves, Vampires and Humans (the Empire), Tom's Hardware reported.

In the battle between the Empire and the Greenskins, Creative Assembly unveiled some of the notable characters and weapons such as heroes, monsters, war machines and spells. The demo is significant because it is one of the cornerstones of the new "Warhammer" game, according to Game Reactor. It shows the diversity of the new game elements, as well as the beautiful environment where the actions take place.

"The fantasy aspect allows developers to work with new environments, such as Black Fire Pass' wide terrain flanked on both sides by tower mountains oozing with lava," Toms Hardware noted.

"Total War: Warhammer" is still in its pre-alpha demo stage, which means that game developers are still fine-tuning and improving the game. The commentary in the demo, for instance, cited that the already fantastic hand-crafted cavalry characters and their battles shown are still being updated to show more dramatic visual effects. The game will be released next year and will begin a new "Total War" spin-off.
