Shamed American dentist Walter Palmer, the man responsible for the killing of a prized lion, is nowhere to be found. The Minnesota dentist has gone off the radar after he received widespread backlash for killing popular lion and main attraction Cecil in Zimbabwe, CNN reported.

His house is empty. His dental practice is currently in shambles, with protesters piling up the front door of his River Bluff Dental office with plush animal toys and a banner that read "rot in hell."

Palmer even sent a letter to all his patients saying that the controversy "has disrupted our business and our ability to see our patients."

"For that disruption, I apologize profoundly for this inconvenience and promise you that we will do our best to resume normal operations as soon as possible," he said in the letter obtained by CNN.

Palmer received negative criticism from the public after he took part in the hunting and killing of the famed lion in Zimbabwe. Palmer shot Cecil with a bow and arrow before professional hunter Theo Bronkorst finished the animal off with a rifle, then beheading and skinning him, HNGN previously reported.
