Jason "Jace" Alexander, who is famously known for directing episodes of "Law and Order," was arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore confirmed that the 42-year-old has been "charged with two felony counts, one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child," according to Entertainment Tonight

DiFiore said the director was accused of "possessing and file-sharing illegal and obscene performances of sexual conduct by children less than seventeen years of age."

Officials working on the case reportedly found several digital pornography files on Alexander's computers and external hard drives after an investigator traced a July 24 download of child pornography to his IP address assigned to his Dobbs Ferry home. The downloaded files reportedly allowed police to obtain a search warrant.

"A forensic examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than sixteen years of age engaged in child pornography," the DA's office said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Court documents obtained by the New York Post state that Alexander was possessing and disseminating videos of young girls and used an Internet torrent service to send a video in June that showed young girls stripping and masturbating.

Alexander was arraigned in Dobbs Ferry Village Court and held on $10,000 cash bail, E! Online reported. If convicted, Alexander can face a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison. He is set for a court appearance Nov. 19 at Dobbs Ferry Village Court.

Alexander, who was elected as the second vice-president of the Directors Guild of America back in June, worked on "Law & Order" from 1994 to 2005, Entertainment Weekly reported. He worked on 32 episodes of the original "Law & Order" and also directed episodes of "Rescue Me." Alexander is listed as a co-executive producer on NBC's "Blacklist."
