For £1 a piece, a mother in China is selling hugs to raise money for her daughter's leukemia treatment, according to The Independent.

The woman is Chen Dejuan, 28. She has been seen standing outside of a Chongqing subway station with her 4-year-old daughter, Nana, holding a sign that reads, "Selling hugs, 10 yuan each," according to the South China Morning Post.

The family has already spent 70,000 Yuan, or £7,250, of their own savings for their daughter's medical treatment, according to the Daily Mail. The couple has had to borrow money to pay for these expenses, and are now taking to the streets to come up with more.

On her first day of "selling hugs," Chen earned more than 600 Yuan in a little over an hour, according to the South China Morning Post. After photos went viral, Chen began receiving online donations from people reading about her devastating situation.

Her daughter was diagnosed in May after collapsing at home, according to the Independent. She was treated in four separate hospitals before being transferred to Chongquin Medical University where she is currently being treated, according to the Daily Mail.

This is a reoccurring event in China - people trying to raise money for sick children and taking to the streets to do so. A man in April dressed up as a horse and offered rides to passers-by for five Yuan, or 50p, each. His son was also battling leukemia, according to the Daily Mail.
