Kanye West experienced a disruption of his own when his microphone stopped working during his set at the closing ceremony of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games on Sunday, Billboard reported. West threw his mic in the air before he walked offstage, and fans that petitioned his performance may have gotten their way after all.

The American rapper opened his set with his 2007 hit "Stronger," and an insignificant amount of people booed and left, according to The Guardian. He went on to perform the songs "Power," "Black Skinhead" and "Gold Digger."

West only made it 13 minutes into his televised set when his mic went dead right before "All of the Lights" and "Good Life," according to Billboard. In fan-shot footage, West can be seen rapping on stage, wearing ripped jeans, a light blue sweatshirt with rolled-up sleeves, sneakers and a thick gold chain around his neck. His music track is barely audible as the crowd chants along, then the artist is seen tossing his microphone up in the air toward the crowd before storming off stage.

Speculation for the reason why West's sound went out when other artists Pitbull and Serena Ryder seemed to perform fine earlier that night range from a planned conspiracy to karma, according to the Guardian. But the Twitter account for the Toronto Pan Am Games responded with the official verdict later that night, citing "technical error."
