The patriarch of the Jackson family, Joe Jackson, was hospitalized in Brazil after he suffered a stroke while vising the nation for his 87th birthday, according to the Associated Press. Once in the hospital Jackson suffered three heart attacks and his heart stopped beating for 10 seconds, but he was revived, reported TMZ

Jackson had a pacemaker inserted during a surgery and doctors have to wait to see if it stabilizes him. 

An emailed statement early Monday from the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo said only that Jackson was admitted to the hospital Sunday afternoon and was in the intensive care unit. The statement also said he was suffering from an irregular heartbeat. Joe lost his vision after an artery burst behind his eye, which triggered the stroke.

The Jackson patriarch had reportedly suffered three previous strokes with the most recent occurring in 2012, according to The Wrap. Doctors at the hospital were doing several tests on Michael Jackson's father and the family was still discussing whether or not to fly him back to the U.S. for further treatment.
